John Lewis launches G Plan Vintage
John Lewis is delighted to launch an exclusive collaboration between iconic furniture maker, G Plan and celebrated British design team, HemingwayDesign.
Handcrafted in Melksham, Wiltshire, G Plan has created a capsule furniture collection of five designs, each inspired by a mid-century original from the G Plan archive. Each model is named after the year in which the original first appeared. Made to order, with a lead time of six weeks, all of the pieces are available in a selection of up to 17 textured, quality fabrics. To complement the range, there is a selection of 10 accent cushions and bolsters in HemingwayDesign prints available to purchase separately.
Tilly Hemingway from HemingwayDesign, comments: “G Plan came to prominence in a golden era of British Design that emerged and developed from the 1951 Festival of Britain. This era of 'Mid Century Modern' design is now inspiring a whole generation of young designers once more, and I cannot tell you how exciting it has been to be able to trawl the G Plan archive with a brief to re-interpret the brands rich history for a new generation of 'modernists'. Being able to sample and manufacture in the UK, develop custom prints, work with high quality materials, and in its first season for the collection to be sold in John Lewis, has been a bit of a dream come true."
The collection will be available exclusively from John Lewis stores and online www.johnlewis.com from early August 2012.
