A bestselling Great British Adventure Kit from Yorkshire-based BattleBox has been named the Top Outdoor Toy of 2012 in the national ToyTalk Awards. BattleBox's Dangerous Den Kit was described by judges as ‘simply magnificent' and a ‘breath of fresh air' that will ‘unlock the explorer in any child'.
The company's Extreme Ambush Kit was highly commended - making BattleBox the only toy company to scoop both first and highly commended in any category.
The BattleBox Company was set up four years ago as a home-based family business by Emma de Vere Hunt of Knaresborough. From packing boxes in a barn, the business has since attracted £200,000 investment from Jonathan Turner, serial entrepreneur and chief executive of the Bayford Group - a Yorkshire based business that has been thriving for more than 90 years and through three generations of the same family.
The group's investment of time and funding is helping to power BattleBox onto the national stage, and orders have also come in from as far afield as Hong Kong and South Africa.
